Logical - not always right
Working on the SHELLAND series, we first created a garden chair, which we then took as a model for the design of the entire collection. When it was the turn of the bar stool, designer David Val suggested a seemingly logical solution: just lengthen the legs of the chair. But nothing happened. “When we made the first test sample, it became clear that it was easy to sit on it, but getting out of it was already problematic. So I realized that the bar stool should be without armrests, ”says David.
